Fasting, Fat and the Keto Diet

Fat and Fasting are a match made in heaven. A 5 day water fast resets the immune system back to a youthful state, literally. For example, old cells are broken down, recycled or expelled. New macrophages and white blood cells are recreated with stem cells that have the same genetic imprint of cells from our youth. Did Jesus fast before His Anointing with God’s “plant of renown” and subsequent Baptism for this very reason?
How Fasting & the Keto Diet Actually Fight Cancer | Dr. Thomas Seyfried, PhD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2JzfKF7U-Y
The following presentation may help you understand what to expect if and when you decide to start a water fast. https://youtu.be/Buk4NuWfPzM?list=PLOOnUhETUbdEyMcig7Hh8P7ojODgpSt4K
Medical supervision is recommended when attempting a fast that is longer than 5 days. I am not suggesting that anyone attempt an 18 day water fast without medical supervision. If you are facing certain illnesses, such as cancer or type 2 diabetes, it may be more advantageous to start with a ketogenic diet and only attempt 3 or 4 water fasting periods per year of only 5 days each.
Please note that there is more than one way to fight cancer. Eating the proper fats and fasting are simply a tool to reset your physiology. See https://www.chrisbeatcancer.com/ for more information. Chris’s presentations are available for your review at https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ar8TrlEg066zlNpjzK7IBT2bkyS54A I think he does a good job and often refer people to his series of videos. There might be some ideas that are missing, such as high dose vitamin c, fasting and the ketogenic diet. But his advice is sound.
A carefully planned, short-term water fast can help reset certain biological processes and reinvigorate your health. https://www.globalhealingcenter.com/natural-health/health-benefits-of-water-fasting/
Take your time, listen and watch carefully for a better understanding of what is best for you. This information should also be reviewed by your family and doctor, so they can understand what you are going through and be helpful if needed. Rest, sunshine, clean air and meditation and prayer are going to be very import if you decide to do a medically supervised water fast.
Learn valuable water fasting advice from two of the leading expert doctors in natural health and wellness. In this interview, Dr. Group sits down with Dr. Alan Goldhamer, a leading pioneer in water fasting who sees over 1,000 new patients a year and has the experience of monitoring 20,000 water fasts in the last 33 years. Dr. Goldhamer clarifies common myths and misconceptions people have when performing a water fast and shares all the ins-and-outs of (medically supervised) water fasting. Is Water Fasting Safe? I also wanted to mention that the keto-mimicking-diet (KMD) and using MCT oil is not quite the same as a water fast and I’ll write more on that below.
Keep in mind that it usually takes about 2-3 weeks for someone to become fully keto-adapted after beginning a ketogenic diet. Even though the body will begin to produce ketones within a few days, it takes longer for the cells to begin converting them into energy. This is a major reason I suggested water fasting after training your body to use ketones. Water fasting is simply faster. https://drjockers.com/the-diet-that-destroys-cancer/
Some people may be better off using the Prolon Fmd (fasting mimicking diet) at https://www.google.com/search?q=prolon+fmd than paying a coach. Or, simply attempt the keto-mimicking-diet (KMD) yourself before attempting a true water fast.
On a KMD the ketone levels can vary quite a bit based on many factors, time of day, the time since one last consumed food, water intake, stress, etc. Low ketones as little as .1 indicate progress. High Ketones – 4.1 mmol and Glucose – 69 mg/dL were found in this article https://www.perfectketo.com/the-results-of-my-four-day-fast-to-start-a-ketogenic-diet/
It is alright to take some time off of from a keto-mimicking-diet. Part of the reason to mimic the ketogenic state is to train your body to know how to use ketones. By training the body to use ketones, we are preparing for a real fast of 3 to 5 days,  out of a month.
After training our body to fast using the keto-mimicking-diet (KMD) while supplementing vitamins such as C and minerals like those found at http://Sea-Crop.com/ (1 tsp. per 8 ounces of water).  We then attempt a fast for 1, 2, 3, 5 days on distilled water only.
Working up to a 5 day fast. should be done gradually, such as only 2 to 4 fasting periods per month. A five day fast will promote the production of stem cells, old tired out cells will be recycled and in some cases will even promote the removal of scar tissue. You can learn more about this by listening to the presentation at https://youtu.be/07MQ2HI8B7k
Then we can gently ease back into real food using fresh water melon with appropriate amounts of water and easily digested foods such as hemp nuts blended with water, etc. Slowly returning back to a normal diet as mentioned in Dr. Group's presentation on YouTube.
For some people, gradually returning to the keto-mimicking-diet (KMD) as soon as possible may also be a good idea after breaking a fast.  In that scenario, one would slowly break the fast with highly diluted foods, such as a minute amount of watermelon, then hemp nuts, organic bone broth and eventually avocado in blended water over the course of a couple days. Consulting with an MD that understands the risks and benefits is advisable.
I want to reaffirm what we are trying to accomplish with the ketogenic-mimicking-diet (KMD) and a progressive water fast (WF) so that there is no confusion. What we hope to do with the short-term KMD is simply train the body to recognize ketones, so that when you do a WF, it will not be as taxing or difficult on your metabolism. The most important part will be accomplishing the water fast of 3 to 5 days, as discussed below. 3 day water fast. Why I did it and what happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHTQWhd9fSc
Water fasting with Dr. Michael Klaper - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_c1QRYHV2M Please note that if a fast produces a raging headache, difficulty breathing, visions problems, an abnormal heartbeat or other severe physiological difficulties, discontinue the fast with a small portion of watermelon and water, or an organic bone broth.
Once we have accomplished the fast, we can revert back to a plant based diet. But, we will want to be certain that it is based on Dr. William Li's list of antiangiogenic foods at https://blog.ted.com/dr_william_lis/. Please note that his list is not complete, there are other foods and supplements that prevent cancer and nourish the body, such as cruciferous vegetables, avocados, hemp nuts, macadamian nuts, walnuts, vitamin C, cannabis (MMJ), sea-crop, etc., as we have discussed.
If the KMD and WF cannot be accomplished, you will still want to consider the following information. If you succeed with the KMD and the WF, you will still want to see this - You can Eat to Beat Cancer https://www.eattobeat.org/.
Last, but-not-least, one may supplement keytones to promote uptake into cells, if blood sugar is kept low, where they are able to feed and nourish the mitochondria that we inherit from our mothers. This can be accomplished using Organic MCT oil, purified without chemicals available at https://www.simplygoodfats.com/. MCT Oil has no flavor, so stick with this product rather than their questionably tasting Coffee Creamer. Consume virgin coconut oil, avocados, hemp nuts, macadamian nuts and walnuts as 80% (by weight) of your diet while keeping protein and starch at less than 10%, each. The good fats should always been consumed with the protein and starch, not as separate meals. Keep in mind that the research suggests that ONLY a 5 day water fast promotes the production of stem cells, new macrophages and white blood cells. Mitochondrial heath is improved though, as they start using ketones for fuel, thus changing them from an elongated form to a plump state. Our mitochondria prefer ketones.
Over the years, I have published much of this information at GlyCop Co-op in my Education area. The health of individual cells is highly dependent on providing what is missing, such as the compounds in glyconutrients http://tiny.cc/glycop-glyconutrients that provide building blocks for the Glycocalyx of each cell.
In her talk about sugar and cancer, Stanford Chemistry Professor Carolyn Bertozzi tells us why the sugar coating on our cells is crucial to our health and well-being. Unlike the sugar coating on a peanut M&M, she explains, human cells are covered with complex sugars. Bertozzi shows us they are, “like foliage swaying in the breeze.” The language these sugars are speaking can tell us everything from what blood type we are to whether we have cancer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HeZaYtfDf8
A Water Fast is not a cure all, neither is a KMD. But it may be a useful tool for resetting one's health.
Sincerely yours,
Michael West
