Fasting, Fat and the Keto Diet

Fat and Fasting are a match made in heaven. A 5 day water fast resets the immune system back to a youthful state, literally. For example, old cells are broken down, recycled or expelled. New macrophages and white blood cells are recreated with stem cells that have the same genetic imprint of cells from our youth. Medical supervision is recommended when attempting a fast that is longer than 5 days. I am not suggesting that anyone attempt an 18 day water fast without medical supervision. If you are facing certain illnesses, such as cancer or type 2 diabetes, it may be more advantageous to start with a ketogenic diet and only attempt 3 or 4 water fasting periods per year of only 5 days each.

I also wanted to mention that the keto-mimicking-diet (KMD) and using MCT oil is not quite the same as a water fast and I’ll write more on that below. 
 
Keep in mind that it usually takes about 2-3 weeks for someone to become fully keto-adapted after beginning a ketogenic diet. Even though the body will begin to produce ketones within a few days, it takes longer for the cells to begin converting them into energy. Some people may be better off using the Prolon Fmd (fasting mimicking diet) at https://www.google.com/search?q=prolon+fmd than paying a coach. Or, simply attempt the keto-mimicking-diet (KMD) yourself before attempting a true water fast.
 
On a KMD the ketone levels can vary quite a bit based on many factors, time of day, the time since one last consumed food, water intake, stress, etc. Low ketones as little as .1 indicate progress. It is alright to take some time off of from a keto-mimicking-diet. Part of the reason to mimic the ketogenic state is to train your body to know how to use ketones. By training the body to use ketones, we are preparing for a real fast of 3 to 5 days,  out of a month.
 
After training our body to fast using the keto-mimicking-diet (KMD) while supplementing vitamins such as C and minerals like those found at http://Sea-Crop.com/ (1 tsp. per 8 ounces of water).  We then attempt a fast for 1, 2, 3, 5 days on distilled water only.
 
Working up to a 5 day fast. should be done gradually, such as only 2 to 4 fasting periods per month. A five day fast will promote the production of stem cells, old tired out cells will be recycled and in some cases will even promote the removal of scar tissue. Then we can gently ease back into real food using fresh water melon with appropriate amounts of water and easily digested foods such as hemp nuts blended with water, etc. Slowly returning back to a normal diet as mentioned in Dr. Group's presentation on YouTube.
 
For some people, gradually returning to the keto-mimicking-diet (KMD) as soon as possible may also be a good idea after breaking a fast.  In that scenario, one would slowly break the fast with highly diluted foods, such as a minute amount of watermelon, then hemp nuts, organic bone broth and eventually avocado in blended water over the course of a couple days. Consulting with an MD that understands the risks and benefits is advisable.
 
I want to reaffirm what we are trying to accomplish with the ketogenic-mimicking-diet (KMD) and a progressive water fast (WF) so that there is no confusion. What we hope to do with the short-term KMD is simply train the body to recognize ketones, so that when you do a WF, it will not be as taxing or difficult on your metabolism. Once we have accomplished the fast, we can revert back to a plant based diet. Please note that his list is not complete, there are other foods and supplements that prevent cancer and nourish the body, such as cruciferous vegetables, avocados, hemp nuts, macadamian nuts, walnuts, vitamin C, cannabis (MMJ), sea-crop, etc., as we have discussed.

Last, but-not-least, one may supplement keytones to promote uptake into cells, if blood sugar is kept low, where they are able to feed and nourish the mitochondria that we inherit from our mothers.
